If the device can be dual-managed, that could be confusing on who is supposed to do what, and you get into privacy gray areas with landlord/tenant laws.Hypothetically, you don't want to be liable for identify theft of a tenant because you failed to apply security patches or because you didn't train the tenant in how to manage the device.I do use smart smoke detectors in my home & rentals, but it's because they are less likely to have nuisance alarms.

If a con man just walked up to you and said "give me your car" or "give me your wallet", you'd yell thief and run away.

You can set it up to email or text you any time there is an alert wether the alarm is set off or whenever someone disarms it to show the home.

I've seen plastic bags taped over alarms!!

The payoff is quite nice too as far as the equivalent of ~25-50 doors in retirement income per month with no hassles of 25-50 doors which is a nice "diverse" stream of income outside of RE.Do some lifestyle planning and try to figure out what will really make you happy and excited to wake up when you alarm goes off way before the sun comes up ;) Either way, best of luck brother.

One thing that I found is that if you put up Home Security Alarm stickers (like ADT) then that alone can deter criminals even if you don't have an actual system.
