After a few connections, the crimp rings are cheaper, and theoretically more reliable.You are also supposed to use nail plates through the joists/studs where your pex and romex are.

Note that _technically_ caulking the trim rings is a Code violation but I would personally not have issue with it, and it's highly unlikely that it would be noticed by an inspector anyway.

I spend around 2k a unit for upgrades which include new vanity, replace toilet wax ring and guts, paint bathroom, replace shower/showerheads with low flow water saving ones, paint or stain kitchen cabinets, new laminate counters, tile back splash, paint entire unit a nice neutral gray, and paint all trim white.
