it is legitimate grounds to turn down a tenant that lies on their application.Depending on the animal being benign enough (hamster for instance) we have waived the animal fee and our lease allows fish tanks up to 10 gallons without notification of the animals.

I can see how this could ensure compliance with our local occupancy laws, prevent parking issues, and maybe even discourage large fish tanks (fish have heartbeats too!
