But I'm just trying to get a sense of gross earnings to expect on these larger homes for when things do start to normalize hopefully by next summer or so with international tourists coming back and not having to do the whole 2 weeks of self quarantine, etc.

I would suppose that if you live in a tourist area, you could always perform as a AirBnB to make some money off of it.I guess it's possible to not pay the mortgage and let the bank continue sending you letters until they foreclose, but that is not a recommended action; unless you want to lose the home.

I have had tremendous success in turning cash flow negative apartments into cash cows in similar circumstances.I would recommend checking out www.airdna.co to get a quick feel for what you could expect... and don't discount the fact that perhaps you may feel the property isn't close to anything tourist wise...
