I'd take the money you need for this deal and I'd take the rest of the money away from that advisor and put it with a fee only fiduciary financial advisor if your friend thinks he needs an advisor.It really upsets me how people have taken the job title "advisor" and make it seem like they have your best interests at heart when they really don't.
