The problem is that someone finished the basement when they should not have or at least should have taken some preparation steps and then finished it with the idea in mind that moisture could be an issue.

I had an inspector go out and take a look at it during construction and he found MAJOR problems ranging from possible asbestos insulation being airborne, lead-based paint cracking, cracks in the foundation and crawl space, old knob and tube wiring, moisture and mold issues, roof shingles replacement, and loads of other issues.Rather than talking about them, I made a playlist of the inspection here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?

I also like that it provides better moisture control which is good for my investment, it’s very humid here, walls will literally drip.

The reason being is that eng'd is more adaptable to fluctuations in moisture content, and does not tend to warp as bad, therefore is in higher demand.

A great inspector is going to let you know the life-cycle of the siding, and potentially scope out the roof to give you an idea about how long before the next special assessment should be coming...And while in condo's in general you own what is between the faces of your drywall, if the HI finds moisture or leaks in your plumbing you could be facing a bigger headache than if you just owned the whole building.Also have you made sure the condo is financeable as an investment property?
