Background information, we're transitioning out of the military and moving back to the Minneapolis area. 

Hello BP,    Recently moved to Moore County, NC for work (military) and am looking to purchase a property with the intention to turn it into a buy and hold down the road. 

I personally waive application fees for prior military because I'm retired military myself and like to reward those that have served.

Find a bank/credit union/lender that does such loans and ask their requirements.

VA loans do require military service

In many states military are exempt from notice requirements.

Without going too deep into my personal situation I’m active duty in the Military and I’m about to re-enlist and fortunately for me I can receive a bonus.

If you decide that military is a long term career, then you can start buying a home whenever you move to a new area -- with the mindset that you will then convert it to a rental when you leave.
