In the past I've told my siblings they should use this same strategy (for their college-attending kids) but it hasn't yet been done. 

Attend meet people there, talk to them, some are agents that invest themselves, or are new looking to learn.

I attend a couple meetup groups in and around NYC(Manhattan, Brooklyn and Jersey City).You may want to open up your search to meetup.com and do a search for real estate.

It has been 2 years since i left the military, now attending college for a surgical tech position in the near future.

Be sure to attend the local BRIC meetings as its a great place to network.

I would also suggest attending local meetups and REIA meetings as these are a great way to connect with like-minded individuals. 

I do not attend it but I know there is a real estate group that meets once a month I believe.

I'm learning the fundamentals of Wholesale through reading lots of Books, attending Webinars, listening to podcasts, and now I'm starting to attend local meet ups and local REIA, and of course BP.
