It goes on Schedule C only if you provide "substantial services", which means services during guests' stays, such as daily cleanings during their stay like a hotel (not just between guests), or meals.

I just had a guest check in and the ceiling fan blade (less than a month old) fell off and hit him in the head (no injuries or anything) but they would like me to come take a look at it.  

After a couple of weeks of no updates, I had a friend of mine going to the house and check the status of it.

I plan to short term it when I'm not living in it so I designed it with an additional vertical guest bed to the right of the living room and with extra dresser space in the bedroom in case of long term tenants.
