Postcard response rates are generally lower.Response rate for yellow letters: 4% (on average)So if you mail out 1,000 yellow letters, you could expect about 40 calls.On average, it takes about 40 calls to get 1 or 2 good deals.So if you are mailing 320 per month, on average you would expect to get a good deal within about 4 months.

Consistency with your follow ups will help you get the full potential out of your list.As for types of mail pieces and possible combination of mailers to send, I would recommend what Michael Quarles recommends:Small Text PostcardPatriot LetterLarge Text Postcard Typed Letter Yellow LetterZip LetterTo add to this post, for your reference and hopefully so you can look ahead and plan accordingly, here are the average response rates we have seen based on our customer feedback as well as our own mailings throughout the years:Yellow Letters- average response rate of 8%-9%, all kinds of calls (angry calls, curious calls, tire-kickers, quality calls)Postcards- average response rate of .5%, mostly quality calls.Zip Letters- average response rate of 2%, mostly quality calls.

To answer your question; keep mailing to the same list and test different yellow letters, white letters, post cards, etc. until you find the one with the highest response rate.
