I definitely wouldnt do it in NY as they're even more tenant friendly, plus the prices r so jacked up i dont see it ever being worth it.

In NY a RE attorney was required - provided the contract, title co, and his staff hosted the closing.while in CA, the Escrower did most all the paperwork, including ordering title & closingLender's (if applicable) attorney would also advise additional requirementsMost important seemed where will the Closing physically happen, depending on situation?

For example, I pay about the same amount in property taxes (town and school bills) on a property purchased for $180K in Upstate NY as I do for a condo in San Francisco purchased for $650K.
