From the contractor side, I've remodeled a few vacation rentals in the Bushkill/Stroudsburg area.

I've gotten different suggestions: either conduct a basic remodel of the kitchen and bathroom, or undertake an extensive gut and remodel and convert the kitchen + living room to one large open space (that came from one of the GC's who does flips in the area). 

You could try some of those tabs that you drop in your toilet tank to prevent rust, don't know if it would help, just a thought. 

They are older remodeled 3-4 bedroom homes and they average $1,400-$1,550/month. 

Turn the lights on, put the toilet seat down, pick up the random stuff on the basement floor.

My next agreement will be worded very carefully and they will have to check with up before they change the toilet paper roll!!!!!

The homes we've looked at for house hacking have all appeared to need some significant remodeling, with a price point in the 240k range.

However, I took out a HELOC as a way to fund a purchase/remodel.
