@Stian Jones, I'm with Brent - Section 8 isn't a reason on its own to run from the deal.Managing Section 8 rentals is different than market tenants simply because you have a 3rd party setting rules and paying some or all of the rent for those tenants.

I looked up this line from Texas Law and I’m wondering if it has any merit in this case :A landlord who knowingly violates Section 92.006 by contracting orally or in writing with a tenant to waive the landlord's duty to repair under this subchapter shall be liable to the tenant for actual damages, a civil penalty of one month's rent plus $2,000, and reasonable attorney's fees.

Even if you have the house, you can get a VA loan for as low as 0%, I've heard, so take advantage of the benefits of service.Maybe there are reasons you can't do any or all of these things, but they seem the lowest barrier to entry, from what I see.
