Detroit is a 3-4 time a year trip for me so I will give you shout next time I come to the East side of the state!

Most likely North east LA but all of the properties in that area are rent control. 

My family was of the middle class variety but I never "wanted" anything.

I do realize east coast co-ops tend to be somewhat different than the west.Has their been any consideration to converting to condo?
