I use Frigidaire top freezer models for all rentals in either white or black depending on the kitchen's decor.

Goodwill and other thrift stores can be great for knick knack decorations and wall art. 

The smaller houses are actually doing very well if they are updated, decorated well and in the right location.

In my market unless it's a higher end home we don't usually stage with furniture but I do go in with plants and decorator items (ESPECIALLY THE KITCHEN & BATHROOMS)  so that my professional photographs look great.
