Living on a sailboat or in a camper can have some issues you won't find in a traditional house-- your "plumbing" situation is not going to be as seamless as what you are use to in a house or apartment... you'll have to deal with holding tanks and sewage treatment and disposal, macerators break all the damn time, 6 gallon hot water heaters, filling water tanks, space is small inside (and often outside), insulation is usually non existent.

Of course this is not applicable when you are filling up a 25000 gallon swimming pool, so we could call them and say we are filling up a pool and have the sewer rate waived for the time the water is used for the fill.

I'd write them an email saying that since fish and birds are pets, that they aren't allowed per the terms of the lease.If you want to give them permission, require them to sign an addendum with additional pet fees, if allowed, or a higher rent or deposit, and at least required renters insurance to cover any additional damage that the deposit won't cover.I live in independent senior housing now and our lease says not fish tanks over 10 gallons.
