In between you can get a cookie cutter house in one of the new suburb developments at about 1500 sq ft and no yard, plenty of neighborsOn HBTV they have a program (I think on Sunday night) that addresses this very question and does national comparisons.Bill

What made this deal easy was that the homes in the area are all cookie cutter with the same format and I grew up in this neighborhood when I was younger.

There are no exemptions and it's not in a historic area or any other part of town where property values change dramatically street to street - it's a fairly cookie-cutter, 1980's-built neighborhood on the northwest side of town.That's interesting about contesting the assessed property taxes annually, thanks.Do you know if they take the state of repair of the house into consideration when assessing taxes?

There is a good chance this agent was on a 50/50 split with his broker, lets not forget taxes, and all the other hands in the cookie jar, so for the sake of argument I'll assume the sales price was $100k, the agent might only be taking home around $2500 on the deal.
