We did not intend on going THAT high, but this house is a GEM, and we believe strongly in the market surrounding The Domain.

Home has been appraised for 250k and remaining balance for payoff is around 30k… I feel as though this would be considered a hidden gem and I should purchase the home and even if it’s around 30k to repair I’d still come out on top  

Plenty of people willing to take on the work an STR requires these days while pushing prices up so high CoC is dismal.If OP's numbers are correct that there are a whole bunch of houses just sitting in that market w/ estimated 68% return, he's either found a gem of a market or he's missing something (STR restrictions on new permits maybe?). 

The area is a B-/C+ area with mostly single family homes average vintage in the 1950s with average sale price of 100K.

Wondering if this is a possible gem or seemingly pyrite...

The home selling on the MLS is in an attractive but modest middle class neighborhood with vintage homes on city lots, some in OK shape, some really well kept.

After you have identified a few 'possibles', then call your Realtor and go look at all of them.If you find what you think is a gem, go ahead and make an offer before you even get to do a proper walk-through, or see the interior.
