The problem is generally the soil underneath the foundation.If this area has bad soil, the house could easily have a bad foundation.

@Charles Moore I think you are going to have a hard time finding properties in DFW that aren't on expansive clay soil.

The previous, quick fix solution was to route the basement bathroom waste and the basement washer waste out via pipes to the exterior of the home onto the lawn, which was showing evidence of soil erosion due to this "solution".
