It seems like he just copy pasted the layout and architecture exactly from another similar project he did years ago.  

It is not a cathedral and doesn't have exceptional architectural qualities but it is a well maintained sturdy old structure with very tall ceilings and tall windows.

Hard for me to relate as I have been involved in Architecture/Construction most of my life, so it comes second nature.

However; you want to have a cohesive look in your house, so depending on architectural style, etc.

I come from an architectural design and engineering background, so I am forcing myself to use my experience and figure out a way to do most of the renovations myself.

Then I stumbled on Bigger Pockets and see if may just be able to do this.I do have a degree in interior design with a minor in architecture so I'm hoping that will be helpful in my future plans.

In all fairness this is not a strictly real estate investment related post, but, here goes:I'll be visiting Denver for a weekend (planning to rent a car), and I love all things real estate and architecture.
