There are different philosophies regarding getting a parcel of land into escrow.

Our primary plan is to hold the duplex indefinitely, but every once in a while we talk about a situation in which a developer wants our property to build an apartment building.Selling and cashing out is obviously an option, but I subscribe to the buy and hold philosophy and I would want a piece of this apartment building action.

I always lean towards the don't sell, develop philosophy. 

And I love the philosophy of generosity and care for others that is the bed rock of reasoning on why interest of that sort is Riba to the Prophet and scholars of Islam. 

Now, my philosophy is it can be fixed with the right tools, resources, and knowledge and once it’s done, it’s done.I though about it and my next purchase my be an auction as the MLS is silly now.Also, as @Andrew Weiner mentioned, that individual may have been buying homes for someone else to increase their capital for tax purposes.

Everyone's investment philosophy is different.  

I interviewed the household names - Coldwell Banker, Howard Hanna, Keller Williams, and Berkshire Hathaway.I decided on Keller Williams because my broker and I hit it off immediately, the costs and commission splits are impressive, decent online training, and I have read a few of Gary Keller's books and feel that I have a similar philosophy.
