I would suggest going independently but partnering with an established company.

Often times with wholesale deals, speed is the name of the game, so taking time to conduct lengthy due diligence is not an option.

If he goes for gaming and gets a job, he can still be an agent on the weekends or just invest in real estate from the money he makes from gaming. you do not need to be an agent to invest in real estate. 

If you have no skin in the game, you'll usually start at 50% equity and work your way from there depending on what you can offer.But doing 10 deals a year with a partner is much better than doing 1 or 2 deals on your own. just be open and flexible to make a deal that's mutually beneficial
