Keep in mind, as I mentioned in my earlier post, HUD could still tehcnically call your loan due even though there was no fraudulent intent.As @Wayne Brooks  pointed out you would not be able to get another FHA loan locally (except for a few very specific extenuating circumstances... for example if your unit in the triplex was a 1 bedroom but now you have a child and need a place with an extra bedroom), but you could get a Conventional loan as a primary residence with 5% down.

In the last financial crises, some banks were caught fraudulently certifying their loans, resulting in losses to the insurers resulting in heavy fines, some in the range of hundreds of millions of dollars.And yes, there are some banks that keep their mortgages, and not selling them, and these are called portfolio loans.

One of my loan officers is in your neck of the woods and is a combat vet.

Not too comfy.....so, of course, in essentially  all climates, you will need to combat the 100% thermal bridge nature of a steel shipping container with additional framing, insulation, and finished surfaces. 

Best suggestion to combat that fear is to find someone in your community who is doing what you want to do and share a deal together.
