Was tired of the unaffordability of the place (in hindsight wish I would have stuck around another year or two, would probably be retired by now due to all the good deals) and moved back to Wichita to be near family and summer weather that is usually more tolerable than the subtropic climate.  

Connecticut has excellent climate, easy proximity to New York City, while being close to Providence and Boston.

However, from what I do know/hear is there is never really a "bad time" to be a REI there are just bad strategies in the given economic climate.

Also the climate- the Summer time is hot and the Winter is very cold which puts more stress on the mechanical units of a building.

The vacation rental climate has changed a bit over the years, with the increased popularity of STVR's, however, despite that fact our home has made even more money than ever. 

Also, in cold climates, if you turn the water off for a second to try and conserve, you will get a blast of cold water for the period of time that it takes the heater to turn back on.

Its attractive tax structure, a legislative and regulatory climate conducive to economic activity, incentives, finance and business assistance programs, low occupancy and construction costs and adequate space in which to expand are all fueling the accelerated growth.
