Not necessarily new - but 1st official introduction - Wichita, KS
Hello, guess I was shy when I signed up a little bit less than a year ago as I've never posted an official introduction. Name is Shane and born/raised in the Wichita KS area (lived around the outskirts from a place with acreage/plenty of farmland around growing up to my city dwelling now. Did move away to rural and remarkably culturally diverse Southwestern KS (Garden City) after graduating college - lived there a couple years, bought my 1st house, updated it, learned a lot, made a little money upon selling, then at the height of the real estate boom (2005) moved to S Florida in the Cape Coral / Ft Myers area for a job transfer. SOOOO glad i did not purchase at the time as something told me not to due to the environment I was experiencing down there and just lived on the cheap renting a room in someones house. Was tired of the unaffordability of the place (in hindsight wish I would have stuck around another year or two, would probably be retired by now due to all the good deals) and moved back to Wichita to be near family and summer weather that is usually more tolerable than the subtropic climate. Been in Wichita since the end of 2006, likely will have the itch to move away again, but haven't scratched it yet. Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada or SE Colorado may call my name someday.
How I ended up on BiggerPockets was via a referral from an acquaintance I'd made at REIA meetings and had a few lunches with here in the Wichita area. Glad I listened to him and joined up. Lots of good information here and have met a number of people I wouldn't have otherwise all due to BiggerPockets. Pretty certain I found this site a # of years ago when it was in it's infancy however for some reason or another didnt stick around but wish I would have and participated at that time. Would likely be further ahead than I am now.
I recently overhauled my profile so would appreciate any feedback or critiques you may have...(I think it does a pretty good job telling my story?) would be glad to elaborate on anything someone may have a question about.
