My question is, should I shell out the extra money for all-new stainless steel appliances, or just clean off the white stove/hood, and save $600-800 by only buying a new white fridge + dishwasher?

Being a house hack, if you break even you're doing fine, just as long as your putting money away (literally, keep it in a separate business checking/savings account) for Reserves: maintenance, capital expenditures (roof, fridge, hot water tank, etc). #4 Agree with DerekI would strongly encourage you to do this if you can, even if it means that you and your folks have to have the house empty for a few months to wait until you and your roommates move in.

If this used cabinet set came with corners I'd probably pull the trigger and just sand/repaint them, however I just matched up the measurements of the current cabinets and they are... odd:Above the fridge: 33" (+3 inches for the frame, so 36) x 15", to the left of that - a 48" (and not 2 24s nailed together, this thing is huge) x 30", blind corner, then 24" x 30", sink, then 21" x 30", above stove is 30" (+3 inches for the frame) width.

After the appliance arrived I called them and complained (I was told to do so by the CS guy I had spoken with when they called me to tell me of the delay) and they sent me a $150 electronic gift card on a $500-something dollar fridge.
