Renting properties for STR does not come with the upsides of tax savings, appreciation, equity build up, etc.I agree with the sentiment expressed by others that diving straight into STR, especially with a property that is cashflow negative as a long-term rental (LTR) or through arbitrage, can pose risks.

That's exactly what I figured the sentiment regarding investing in Jacksonville (or anywhere in Florida for that matter) might be.These days, I'm definitely wishing I would've gotten started investing earlier. 

I agree with many of the above sentiments.

I too echo the sentiment about the high turnover rate.

Given the sentiment towards STRs, even if it looks like it's going to be a safe market, that can change quickly and dramatically as we've all seen.
