They want to show advertisers mainly viewers who will spend lots of money on home related items and services.

They (the two viewers) told me they (all four prospects) had reliable jobs and plenty of cash.

The difference is that producers are (generally, but not always) allowed to lie to viewers with whom they have no legal contract, but must abide by contracts when dealing with participants in the show.

It costs the viewers nothing.

I think you gain more by using a simple, quickly understood message than by relying on the viewer to piece it together.
