I talked to another investor who experienced this as well, at the same bank.I have a couple questions: 1) Why and how can a bank collect more than what is owed to them in an event of foreclosure and 2) does this inflated amount recorded on the mortgage lock me out from accessing the equity in the property, if for example I'd like to add a 2nd lien, cross-collateralize the equity or cash out refi someday?

It's hard to imagine interest rates being this low forever, to be sure.Agreed to not get caught up and distracted by the noise and talk of what "might" happen and the posturing & politics of it all.My main concern is I took a line of credit out against my stock portfolio to rehab a duplex house hack and im concerned about the performance of the stock market moving forward in 2022 with the volatility. And would like to have that debt on a low fixed rate moving forward with inflation rising.Refinancing was my first plan, to pull out equity to repay that line of credit.

Because the other option is buying the property, then they would have a whole bunch of money just sitting there, with inflation going the way that it has been, that would not be the best option.

IMO, the inflation we are experiencing is not transitory as some people are claiming.
