My sister-in-law is involved in buying a property in the DFW area where drilling and mineral rights issues are apparently a hot topic.

My mom's sister came to visit recently and she lives in Texas.She said many major cities there are in big droughts and rain has been hard to come by.When there is a severe water shortage usually the brakes are put on development to not overtax an already pushed system for demand.

So we have a situation where my fiancee bought a house so that his mom and family ( brothers/sisters ) can all be together as they transition to the US.The thing is that now, he is having a family of his own, and we are thinking of the option to get a second home for ourselves and his family can remain at the original house paying the mortgage.

But I(27) would like to bring my older brother(41)and sister(42)into this to really make the most of things.

He helped my sister and her family find an apartment 3 years ago when they moved to town, and Jim just helped them buy a bank-owned house in June.   

My parents and sister also lives nearby and check up on the house occasionally.
