I was able to attach both a USB battery backup and/or external power, but had to modify the waterproof case to do it.Also, there is no wireless download of data, so you'll have to pull down the camera and swap SD cards every once in a while as well.I've also used the Dropcam. 

Rent a camera and do inspection maybe it'll give you a "better" idea of what's in there.  

It was an ongoing process but the landscaping, exterior paint, and security cameras were nice selling points and helped us "reset" our reputation.
