I know that in Southern Florida where I have family, they use concrete block construction on slabs, the studs are steel, and the plumbing is all CPVC.If you have pipes in the slab, that will really add to the price.

That money was used to successfully rehab the main floor and retrofit the entire building with steel beams to increase space and sight lines.Would a HM lender be interested in funding this project so that it is completed ASAP?

Technically speaking; without a relief valve installed - yes the water heater could explode.But the weakest component is what would fail and that it likelier to be a soldered copper fitting than the steel HWH tank.Also: unless the inlet valve to the HWH was closed - any excess pressure would 'relieve' by backing water out into the cold water supply line.stephen------------- Originally posted by @Jaime Penix: Interesting.
