Is $90/square the price I should pay for a square of architectural shingles?

We started with ads on craigslist, paying people 11 an hour and got the worst quality work you could imagine- people didn't nail siding down, spilled paint on shingles, some even stole money...it just didn't seem worth going the cheap route.

Hi Denzil,If it were mine, I'd go with an off white all the way to the ground, with black shutters (which I think would go with the grey shingles very nicely).Light colors make things look bigger.I'd also go down to home depot and get some 2 inch molding, (miter the corners) and make 3 boxes on the front of the porch and one on the side, and paint them white also (I think the porch looks a little bland compared to the rest of the house).Nice little house!

About $50/square for dimensional shingles, maybe a bit less for 3 tabs.

If I must replace, would you do shingles of metal?

I hired a lawyer to fight the insurance company which claimed only a few shingles needed to be replaced.Finally, after almost a year the lawyers were able to get the insurance to an arbitration where everyone meets on site at the house to inspect it and agree upon an amount the insurance would pay.I had already found a roofer and scheduled him in email form to start work 2 days after the arbitration date.

Anyone have experience with using shingles for levelers, i heard about this options and it looks like a good alternative?

To give you an idea - the roof was damaged in a few places - basically there are 2 holes and many shingles are missing is several spots.

Cleaned up the landscaping a bit, painted, I put new shingles on my shed out back which I got for cheap at habitat for humanity.
