thank U for claifying  having been in the Timber business for many years last thing you want is someone trying this on their own.not only the tree falling but mangling them selves with the chain saw. their is a very robust art to downing treesin our work a day world we were working with softwood  Doug Fir Cedar Pine .. some redwood so those babies were 100 to 140 foot tall.and a good feller could drive a nail they were so acurate at dropping them.. but most anyone who has worked in that line of work is missing digets or got maimed somehow.. my partner had a log roll on him and those things weight thousands of pounds crushed his foot.
