we did some cosmetic updates in the kitchen, new stainless steel appliances, fresh paint and flooring throughout.

The PMs are not a big deal...you can just ignore or block them.The constant cut and paste hidden advertisements are problematic...on some posts, every reply is an ad.The luring of members to PMs that are actually sales pitches are fine because they reveal who not to partner with.The lies about investment performance are bad.The moderators have their hands full. 

Cost me most ofmy investment .But would a background check have revealed anything about their experience?

Inspections revealed that this "Move in Ready" home that only needed cosmetic work (as described to me by the listing agent) actually has a roof that is barely hanging in there, a chimney that's nearly about to fall, and I need to replace 4 boilers.

Nothing helps drive market values and rent levels than well manicured lawns, freshly painted properties, and clean streets. 

I have rented out my property (also VA loan) for 9 years and the only thing my property manager has recommended is fresh paint or new carpet once and pressure washing the outside every few years.

Fresh paint everywhere including ceilings, replace any bad flooring, ensure everything is clean and fresh looking.

2013 properties were affordable and I was fresh out of college, working first job.
