Norwood is a big area, and definitely starting to see some progress in some pockets (especially along the border with the Rookwood area).

I highly suggest consulting with a cross-border tax/legal specialist to help you setup the proper structure for holding the properties.  

This begins the formal eviction process, and lets the tenant know you're serious.

My concern would be that it was now formally brought to your attention, so if something happens the fingers will get pointed at you.

I live in Lake Bluff, IL about 15 miles south of the IL/WI border so don’t have a lot of contacts on the Wi side.

There are many legal formalities that must be observed prior to eviction. 

I know that there are federal laws that allow heirs to assume mortgages and I think there is a high probability that you can call the servicer or bank and ask them what the process is to formally assume the loan.

Hello all, a definite newbie here - I have owned a home in the past (bought and sold several years ago), though was not formally a landlord. 

I've felt the same about Union City...particularly the South side near the Heights & bordering Weehawken.
