Because you cannot own a nonprofit, it is generally not a good idea to put any of your own assets under a nonprofit unless you intend to donate it.

So as I collected my inner city cash cows it became evident that the best exit was donations to Habitat for Humans and local church's... rehab and owning them then reselling we did some of that.. selling as OREO we did a lot of that..

Some nice paintings and art prints (gallery quality) could be consigned to a local non-profit upscale consignment shop that splits 50/50 and they donate their proceeds back into the community to support local non-profit service agencies.

A higher retirement number is certainly a great goal and if reached, as some have mentioned, you may choose to not spend it all on your self and use a good portion for church, humanitarian purposes, donations, or a trust for your future generations, etc.
