You are (older/retired) and could benefit from house hacking and buying a duplex, or renting a room.

I buy back my time in this way.

@Jonathan S. you'll get burned if you buy real estate rentals and do not, "manage your manager".Even the BEST make mistakes and no one can catch every mistake.So, it takes a team effort between a PMC and an owner to make it work:)

You typically offer it to your partner first to see if they will buy you out.

I’ve been exploring buy and hold opportunities in my area, and I recently came across a situation I’d like some advice on.I’ve come across a property in my area that I’m very interested in, but I want to make sure I approach the situation the right way.

I'm looking to buy a house in the St Pete market & have read zoning regulations, articles about STR (anything less than 30 days) and have discussed with my realtor.  

If that makes home buying affordable without putting you in a pinch financially, go for it.

Best thing to do is buy it as a primary or second home and then transition out into a rental.
