Can the existing piece of land be assembled with adjacent land to make it bigger?

My father in law is in commercial real estate and I can assemble a good team around me if needed, but trying to do it somewhat independently.

@Natalie Onacki one way people mitigate this is by having friends or family in an area, or by assembling David Greene's "Core 4."  

This could be official and structured like a Self Storage Mastermind of sorts, or loosely assembled, like this here BiggerPockets Forum, or a la carte, like attended the ISS Expo, or Self Storage Association conventions, and so forth.Good luck and please let me know if I can be of any help.Scott
