There are exceptions, of course (one extremely notable one), on both sides - however the real talent that builds value is by the numbers, somewhere else.I've had some anecdotal experience with very dysfunctional policing, and societal expectations that are not inclusive, and do not value a policy framework that fixes the below:Rampant non sustainable 'pockets' of extreme generational poverty, irreversible income and wealth disparities.

Like what Rob and Cornelius mentioned, Upwork is a good talent source and have been hiring a few freelancers at an affordable rate.

Do you mean a talented carpenter who can do anything, or do you mean a legitimate, State-sanctioned, insured licensed General Contractor?

Have all the talented pros moved to TX  or FL?

Our tech scene may not yet truly rival that of the Bay Area, but the California markets are quickly pricing themselves out of some promising young talent - talent that has started looking east for lower overheads and a more dynamic, inclusive, culture.

If you settle on Milwaukee, there are a ton of talent in that market. 

Dallas has a powerhouse economy beating national job growth by around 100bps, population growth is around 3 times the national average, it is a business friendly environment that attracts real talent, and it is a pretty affordable market relative to other similar locations in the nation. 

They are ambitious, accomplished, and because of it have spent a lot of time locked away in rooms in great schools and office buildings studying and working hard to improve their futures.And I'll be damned if many of these simps don't end up with life partners whose most developed talent in life is spotting a good fresh simp in a bar or on a website, getting their hooks into him, and sucking all the potential, talent, and verve out of him for the next five or six decades.Don't be that guy.
