We’d like to continue with this project remotely, but the idea of managing contractors and overseeing a renovation from afar feels a bit daunting.Have any of you undertaken a similar project?

For on the ground evaluations, I rely on local contacts: agents, contractors, or even property inspectors to provide walkthrough videos and detailed feedback.

That way you can hopefully do renovations as tenants move out one by one and start to build your network of contractors.

ALWAYS ensure the contractor walks the property with you or the realtor and a CLEAR scope of work is defined.

Personally, I would never invest in a place I didn't even visit and also meet/interview the people who would be involved (agent, manager, contractor, etc.)

My favorite ones (as a Contractor) are those like : "How much will it cost to re-wire my entire house?"....."...

Finding trademen and contractors is much tougher if you're self-managing.

We are coming down to get a feel for some neighborhoods we've been looking at moving too and don't really have too much planned so I thought it would be a great time to connect with some lenders, investors, contractors, and liked mind individuals while I'm there!
