Local police don't have resources.

They sent me to the police department, who sent me to my local police department.  

I suspect the scammer will drop the matter when pressed to contact the police.

Since all the payments I made were through cryptocurrencies and some transfer via zelle, my local police could not help me.

Will I need to call the police?

So if it were a drug offense you could follow it from the person being pulled over and read the police report, all the way through adjudication where you can see if they just had to pay a fine, or went to jail, or whatever.What I can tell you is that you want to be picky about placing a good tenant.  

I never had the choice to join the military or the police/fire dept. in a First Responder capacity. 

I don’t want to give them more info/ammo than necessary.I would tell them to call the police if needed for the fights and that you have checked on the smoking issue and it's been denied.
