I ordered all furniture online (Wayfair, Amazon, Sams) and had it delivered directly to the house which resulted in more cardboard than I could imagine.

If you have cardboard you plan on throwing out after this, you don't have to do this, but be aware that you're going to get a lot of heavy, wet, tarry residue on that floor, and it's going to be nasty.
