While the Pensacola and surrounding markets are hot, I've started looking back to my roots, Central and Northeast AL.

But I love the out-of-the-box thinking here and I'm always interested to see how younger generations with less traditional ideas of 'setting down roots' view traditional investments.

maybe folks don't remember 2006 and 7 the root cause for the downturn which started in California with job loss,,,,,, no job loss no downturn.

You are from what I like to call "the cash flow capital"  It's awesome that you have roots in the Milwaukee market. 

So you could be picking up pennies (with wholesale deals) and passing large fat bars of gold (gained from going all in on dentistry).But you can always read up and maybe buy a place to house another dental student for kicks and learning (as long as a maintenance issue or tenant problem won't keep you from passing root canal class or whatever)...Then, once you are all established, you may want to be a real estate investor--with the assets and being more established in your career.

I’m surprised no one has mentioned the root cause of why real estate licensing exists.

We’re about to close on a vacation rental property, and one of the ideas we had was to set up a twitter account for the properties for grass-roots marketing purposes.

If it is on city sewer have a plumber run a camera down the line and tell you if there are any roots or broken pipes.
