This is basically a bunch of LLCs that are treated as one big LLC, where each member LLC is a "cell" of the parent LLC. 

A better approach is to understand that a GC's profit and overhead ( tools, insurance, truck costs, license fees, salary, supplies, gas, computers, cell phone, etc.) has to be IN THERE SOMEWHERE.
