I would strongly caution against renting something out in the short term in hopes that you'll get a higher price for it in 1-2 years, especially if you're going to lose money on it every month.The biggest flaw to this approach is the idea that a tenant is going to take good care of the property and it will be in the same condition in 1-2 years when you're ready to sell.
