I've been working to supplement my W-2 job income with real estate income and it has finally gotten to the point where I can step out on my own and not have my family of 5 starve (wife and 3 kids).

​ Anyone here in California dealing with a Supplemental tax bill?  

If I didn't have a job I probably would have gotten my license and supplemented myself with broker commissions. 

@Joe Splitrock - We followed *some* of Dave's advice about 8 years ago and supplemented the rest with what we thought was best for us at the time.

When I'm doing a buy and hold, my ROI annually is supplemented by depreciation, tax deductions, and principal pay down, so my actual returns are way higher.  

I was thinking of maybe buying a rental there and using that to supplement the insane rent prices by the beach.

@Rich HupperAnd the quick answer to your second question is- no, you can't use your IRA investments to supplement your regular income unless you are over 59 1/2.  

I just want to supplement my income so that I can start putting something aside to build long term wealth.All that being said, are there any investors here from the Altona, Winkler or Winnipeg area in Manitoba?
