I guess their thinking is based on (1) they are unwilling to spend money to legally evict, (2) they may be receiving the rental income and (3) they may think that having someone in the home means the home will stay more livable than vacant (i.e. lawn mowed, less infestations, utilities are paid etc).It will be up to the buyer to either put this month-to-month "tenant" into a new lease agreement or legally evict them.

I have seen alot of folks settle for bad tenants because they were unwilling to sacrifice the $300 received for an extra 10 days of received rents, while trying to wait for a better tenant.
