If someone says - of course, my LLC saved me a bundle on self-employment taxes (a standard sentiment of the proponents of S-corps) - it does NOT necessarily mean that it would be equally helpful to you.

I am not familiar with the area but the important things to check are STR performance in the area you are looking at as well as the traveler segment you will be targeting (budget, business, family, etc); STR regulations imposed by local authority, county, state; neighborhood sentiment about STRs

I agree with the other sentiments here.

I definitely agree with that sentiment, and I think that'll be the route I take from here on out.

It makes me nervous how upset people are over property taxes and property inflation, because council people could react to those sentiments and enact policies that are not investment friendly when the city needs new investment desperately. 

@Wade Penner I agree with the sentiment that you should be wary of this behavior being indicative of future problems, but if it were me I'd be thinking more about the cost of eviction, turnover, and potential vacancy.
