North Austin City Council members promise to loosen restrictions on building sizes even more soon, allowing, as Council Member Leslie Pool puts it, developers to “punch through the ceiling and go even higher.” 

I would have to agree that the STR market here is not as lucrative anymore especially with last summer's change by Nashville metro council.  

June 14, Dallas City Council votes to ban short term rentals like Airbnb and Vrbo in single-family zoned neighborhoods.

I follow the Planning Commission/ City Council agendas and I know there is a huge development in the works - Havasu Riviera - that will include marina/hotel -single and multi family units.

In case people outside Texas considering Plano, TX for STR, please be aware that Plano City Council just voted for a interim ban on STR in Plano city limits.The purpose of the interim measure, according to Day’s presentation on May 8, is “to prohibit the establishment of new short-term rentals of dwelling units while the city conducts public outreach, collects data, and analyzes information to determine permanent recommendations, due to community concerns about health and safety.”

You may want to seek out any City Council members or Planning & Zoning Commission members that would be sympathetic and turn them into an advocate.

Last week council has repealed all of its previous rental ordinances for rental registration.

Anything that has actually been read into the record at a committee or council meeting is public record and easily available.
